Best Buds!

September 29, 2008

They had about 25 books out and looked at all of them!  Of course they all ended up on the living room floor!  How cute to see them reading together though.

My best friend Amber moved just down the street from me.  She has two children that are almost the same ages as Sierra and Caleb.  The older girls have a blast playing together and so do Caleb and Hannah.  Amber and I trade babysitting back and forth which is such a blessing.  This day Amber’s sister in law was having a baby so I had Hannah for the day.  Caleb and Hannah fight but they truly love each other also.  It is so cute to watch them together.  They ask for each other and miss each other when they are apart for more than a day or two.  They hug and kiss each other when they see each other and they hold hands when walking in a crowd.  We joke that they have an arranged marriage!  I think they will at least be good friends forever!

So I was home one night and I walked into the garage to throw out a diaper.  As I turned around I noticed a LARGE spider on the floor…..I almost stepped on it!  I am very afraid of spiders so this was very traumatic.  Mike wasn’t home and I knew I couldn’t let him go or I would have nightmares for months.  I grabbed a sand bucket and set it over the spider.  When Mike got home I asked him to catch it for me.  I knew I had to get a picture or no one would believe me.  I wish we had a picture from the top of him because all spread out he was pretty impressive.  If anyone knows what kind of spider it might be please let me know.

We are moving along with the work on our backyard.  The next step is to have the seed sprayed on Monday.  Here are some photo’s of what has been happening.

September 26, 2008

To all my wonderful readers……I didn’t forget to post!  Life has just been a little crazy the last two weeks.  The backyard project has been huge.  Not that I am doing much but just trying to keep an eye on the guys that are working and making sure everything is as planned.  Then I started bible study which has been great but it just takes time.  The homework has given me some intimate one on one with the Lord and I have learned a lot after just one study!   I will have to share some of what I have learned in a later post.  I also started volunteering in Sierra’s classroom.  It is fun to see her in her classroom environment.  Thanks mom for coming over to watch the kids today (and tomorrow)!!!

Oh yeah, I had the opportunity to witness to two ladies at the center last week and one accepted the Lord!!!  Praise God!!!  As far as the other lady, a seed is planted in her heart so pray for her.  I am going back tomorrow so pray that the Lord uses me to witness to and encourage the ladies that I counsel.  God is Good!  All the Time!  And All the Time!!  God is Good!!!

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

September 21, 2008

Today I feel like Alexander!  It just seems like one thing after another is going wrong.  Nothing terrible but just little things.  My jaw has been locked since yesterday which is not fun.  I woke up to a diaper mess all over my front porch.  Apparently I set a dirty diaper outside last night and some stray dog chewed it up!  GROSS!!!!!  Caleb has been really cranky.  My dogs escaped two times today and I had to chase them down.  Those are just a few of the struggles.  I wish my hubby wasn’t working today.  I am very optimistic that it will change though because we have a church harvest festival at 4:00pm and that should be fun.  Maybe I will even win a cake during the cake walk!  I better go pray so we can turn this day around 🙂

Keys for Kids

September 17, 2008

For the last 4 months we have been doing a daily devotional with Sierra called “Keys for Kids”.  It is a wonderful devotional for Children.  You can order it for free (or a donation) at the webpage below.  My dad heard about it and signed us up to receive the devotional books in the mail.  We have always read the bible and done a devotion time with our children at bedtime but this is one of the best we have found!  Just thought I would pass the word along.

The small things that make life exciting…

September 14, 2008

Two days ago Micah learned to roll over!!!  He can now roll from his back all the way on his tummy!  At first he would get his arm stuck under him but now he can work it out.  This is exciting because being a preemie we are worried he will be behind in things (and he still may) but rolling over is a good start for him!  As exciting as this new skill is for us I am a bit worried about him being on his tummy during sleep.  I still lay him down on his back and as soon as I notice him on his tummy I turn him back over.  At some point I will just leave him there but he doesn’t have a super strong neck yet so I would just rather not risk it for now.  Just thought I would share our latest excitement in the Hart household!

September 12, 2008

Today is a great day because we are starting to landscape our backyard!  We have lived in our new house since October 2007 and we are finally ready to start this massive project!  My Grandpa rented a tractor and brought it over to our house this morning and the work began.  My brother (the best brother in the world) came over today and he is working wonders with that tractor!  He has been scraping the dirt away where the patio extention is going to be and moving dirt from other areas to make hills and level it off.  I will be taking pictures along the way to post and I will be updating everyone as we complete each step.  Our goal was to have this done last Spring but because of the bedrest and pregnancy expenses (an $8,000+ beautiful baby boy) we were unable to even get started.  I am so excited that by next Spring (or way before) my children will be out there enjoying the outdoors where I can keep my eye on them!  Pictures will be coming soon so check back!

Riverview Elementary

September 9, 2008

I am so thrilled that Sierra is able to stay at Riverview Elementary!  I am even more excited that she gets to stay with the same teacher!  Even though I enjoyed having her home last year, (and really needed her while I was on bedrest) homeschooling was a lot of work!  It strained our relationship.  Sierra enjoys math and is very good at math but she really struggles in reading and writing.  When I would force her to sit down and do her work it sometimes became an all out battle.  We tried all different strategies throughout to get her to focus on her language arts but nothing made a huge impact.  Though prayer and many conversations we decided it was time for her to go back to school.  I know we made the right decision because each day she comes home smiling with many stories to tell.  The tension that was between us is disappearing (although homework still brings some struggles).  For now she is in the right place and we will continue to pray about which school is the best for her in the future!
