Tour of California (stage 5)

February 25, 2009

We got to see the tour of California twice on our way to the coast last weekend.  It was pretty exciting!  I will have to have Mike blog more about it but I will post the awesome pictures that he captured!

Elephant Seals!

February 23, 2009

We had a very nice time in Cambria this past weekend.  I just wanted to share a few pictures.  This first picture is a really cute squirrel that we saw when visiting the elephant seals.

Check out this male elephant seal!

Male, Female & Baby Elephant Seal.

Males Fighting

Male & Female Mating!  They were actually “together” in this picture.  It was very calm and you couldn’t really tell much was going on.  Not what I expected for mating elephant seals.  The mother’s baby was at their heads right between them.  The baby will be weaned now and the mother will go off to sea to eat and gain her weight back.  She will most likely go all the way up the coast toward Alaska.  The baby will stay on the beach for awhile more.  The mother will be back next January to birth the next baby that hopefully they made in this picture!

Another cool squirl picture!  Elephant seals are much more exciting than the squirls but Mike couldn’t resist getting this picture!

Sick Kids

February 19, 2009

Wow, this winter has been a difficult one with the colds.  We did really well until January and now the kids just keep getting sick.  This week I had all three home sick at once.  That was a really interesting couple of days.  The two oldest are now on the mends and just about over the colds.  Micah is still right in the thick of it all.  I have been having to give him breathing treatments each day.  He has been breathing really hard/fast and having rib retractions.  If we didn’t have the nebulizer at home I would have to take him in for sure.  I am sure he would have to be in the hospital for the treatments again.  I am just glad that for now we can do it here at home.  Mike said that Children’s Hospital is full and they have had to send a lot of people away.  Just pray that Micah actually improves and we can stay away from that place!

25 Random Things (From Facebook)

25 Random Things

I love Jesus!

I believe that I have the best husband in the world!  God gave me a wonderful man who has a servant’s heart.  He is my best friend and I enjoy spending as much time with him as I can.  I probably take too much of his free time but I enjoy every minute of it!

My love language is quality time.

My Children mean the world to me.  They are such precious gifts from the Lord!

I volunteer on Friday’s at the Pregnancy Care Center.  I have had the opportunity to share the gospel with countless women.  God has worked through me to save many babies from abortion.  Each week I cry with, laugh with, counsel, pray with and listen to 2-5 women in crisis situations.

I am blessed to be able to stay home with my kids.  I have a B.A. in liberal studies and a multiple subject teaching credential but I would rather be home with my children.  I do miss small parts of teaching but I do not miss all the politics in education.

I really want to be an RN but I don’t want to go back to school.  I love medicine and I am so excited that my husband is in the medical field.  I can get my fulfillment of medical knowledge through him!  I wish I would have stuck to my nursing major in college instead of education.  Maybe in a few years I will get brave enough to go back to school????

When I was in high school I found myself in an unplanned pregnancy.  I kept my daughter Mary for 7 weeks before placing her for adoption.  I have received letters and updates from her family and just last week I received my first letter from Mary!!!  She is now almost 13 years old and my dream is to have a close relationship with her.  There will always be a part of my heart missing until we are reunited.  I love her so much!

God gave me another daughter (Sierra) on the exact date that I placed Mary for adoption.  I believe it was His “holy embrace” reassuring me that He is in control and He is a loving and caring God.

I have had preterm labor with all of my pregnancies.  I have been on bedrest and medication 4 times.  Each baby seems to come earlier and more intervention is needed.  I was in the hospital on magnesium sulfate for three weeks with my last pregnancy and it was one of the worst experiences of my life.  My last two babies were around 4 ½ pounds each with NICU stays for both.  Micah cost us over $9,000 out of pocket to have.  I have also had three miscarriages.

Despite #10 and all the trouble I go through I want to have one more baby!  My husband says I have amnesia and he doesn’t understand how I could want to go through that again.  I hug my baby Micah now and think, “it was all worth it.” There are not any plans for another yet but maybe in a couple years!

My husband and I want to adopt.  We were ready to start the process through foster to adopt and then some exciting things started to happen with my daughter Mary.  We feel like we need to put the adopting on hold for a bit until we know how things with Mary are going to work out.  If the right situation does present itself we will pray and then Lord willing jump right in!  My husband is adopted by his father and we carry on his adopted name (Hart)!  If we do adopt imagine our testimony (WOW)! We will have every part of the adoption triad covered!

We bought our house way too early and now it is worth a lot less that we bought it for just a little over a year ago.  It is so frustrating to me that the market has crashed.  I wasn’t planning to move anytime soon but I feel trapped.

My Grandparents are two of my favorite people in the world.  There is something so special between us that I can’t even begin to explain.  My Grandpa is very wise and I should have listened to him about #13.  Besides my own home (and my parents house where I grew up), their house is the only other place that I feel completely at home.

My mom and I didn’t get along at all when I was a teenager but now we are super close.  I also look up to my dad and the example of a Godly man that he is.  I don’t know many men that have the integrity that my dad does.

Can you tell I love my family?  My brother is awesome and just married a wonderful woman!  I am so excited to have a sister and hopefully nieces and nephews soon!  If Mike and I were unable I would want and completely trust my brother Nathan and Claire to raise my kids.  They are a neat couple and will make great parents someday!

I love to snowboard but haven’t had the chance to go with being pregnant and having young children these past few years.  My husband is a great snowboarder and I only hope to be half as good as him!

My favorite place on earth is Cambria where we go several times a year.  If I could live there I would.  Maybe when Mike and I retire!

I love photography and scrapbooking.  I am so behind in my scrapbooks that it isn’t even funny.  I have made several digital books online and that is really fun and easy!  I want a new more professional camera someday!

I have two cocker spaniel dogs and a turtle.  I have always loved animals.  I think I would have at least 25 pets if I could!

My ultimate dream is to buy land in the country and build a house!  That way Mike and I could have our own farm and the kids could have all the room they want to run and play!  Mike wants to call it the Hart Pharm!  Get it?  Since he is a Farmacist?

One of my very best friends (Amber) lives right down the street.  She has two kids the same age as Sierra and Caleb.  Their family has been such a blessing this past year!  I thought she would need me but I have needed her so much more.  Not very often in life do you come across such an awesome friend!

I am addicted to Captain Crunch Cereal & Chocolate! I am also lactose intolerant (praise God for soy milk)!

I am the worst speller and I had to do this in Microsoft Word to make sure everything was spelled correctly.  There are probably still errors.  Maybe I should have my husband proof read it before I post! (The spelling on #21 is a joke)

I have a housekeeper and feel guilty about it, I have a goal of running a 5K, my husband and I are learning to play guitar, my greatest fear is losing my husband or one of my children, my master closet is a disaster, I love the internet and blogging, my husband brushes my hair out after a shower, I love talk time with my kids while putting them to bed, I still have a little bit of asthma, I enter publishers clearing house online almost daily, I do NOT have a green thumb, I wish one of my old best friends was still a best friend (not sure what happened or how to change it), I am not prissy at all  and my favorite bible verses are Philippians 4:8 and Romans 8:28.  Okay I cheated and put way more than 25 random things!

Woodward Park

February 3, 2009

Saturday we decided to go on a family outing to the park.  We collected all the old bread in the house and set off.  First we had to pick up some yummy KFC for our picnic.  We arrived and ate our food at a quiet spot just inside the park.  Next, we decided that since we were near all the ducks and geese we better go feed them.  You could probably hear them quacking a mile away they were so loud!  The kids had a lot of fun!  Sierra was even brave enough to let them eat from her hand.  Finally, we visited a few of the play areas so that the kids could go down the slides and climb.  I wish we could have stayed longer but Mike had to be at work at 2:30pm and the baby needed his nap.  It was a very nice family time and we are going to go a lot more often.  Next time we will bring our dog Cookie and go to the dog park!

Ruby and the Moon!

February 3, 2009

Last night Ruby caught a glimpse of the moon and she couldn’t keep her eyes off of it.  She ran along the fence watching the moon and stopped in the corner of the yard.  She sat there for a very long time just watching the moon.  I am not sure what she thought it was but it sure was funny to watch her.

Micah 8 Months Old!

February 3, 2009

Sorry this has taken so long to get these 8 month pictures up.  With Micah in the hospital and being on vacation I got behind in my posting.  Micah is totally better now and doing great!  He was 14lbs 3oz on his 8 month birthday.  He sits up very well by himself and when on his tummy he can lift himself off the ground.  I believe that it will be awhile before he actually starts to crawl though.  He got his first tooth just a few days before he turned 8 months old.  I think his second tooth will come soon because he has had a few rough teething nights lately.

Micah is such a joy to have around because he is such a laid back and happy baby.  He fits right into our family like he was always here!  He doesn’t demand too much attention.  He enjoys kicking back and watching the other two kids play.  He loves to be snuggled and carried around in the sling or carrier.  He takes the best naps yet he is extremely flexible with his schedule.  He makes me want to have 10 more kids (okay maybe not 10, lol).  My prayer is that Micah will grow up to love the Lord with all his heart, be a family man (like his daddy), serve & love others, and have integrity.

I just love my little “Micah Man” so much!

Backyard fun!

February 2, 2009

My dream for our backyard is for it to be a place that the kids love to play.  That includes my kids and all the other neighborhood kids.  We have bought several “toys” for the yard and yesterday we put up our new climbing dome.  I remember the huge dome that used to be at Woodward park!  I had many fun times climbing and swinging from the dome there.  Well we have had this one for over a year but we finally put it up yesterday.  It took three people and about 3 hours to get together but I am sure it will be worth the time and effort.  I just can’t believe how big it turned out.  I thought it would be perfect for Caleb but he is actually too small for it still.  It works great for Sierra who is 8 years old.  The next thing I would like is a wooden swing set!

Yesterday while we worked we had six kids in the yard playing on the trampoline, teeter toter, in the sandbox and playing soccer on the grass.  I loved hearing all the screams and laughter from the kids having so much fun.  The trampoline is still the biggest hit of all (I am not sure we can top that).  Here are some pictures I snapped at the last minute.

I am so Happy!

January 23, 2009

Today was a great day!  I got an unexpected phone call today and then received a letter from Mary and another from her mother Patty!  I had the opportunity to write (email) Mary back and I can’t wait for her response.  I know this is just the beginning and it may take time but I am so excited!  I also got a few pictures of her.  I can’t believe how much she has changed.  She is so mature and turing into a teenager already!  I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store next!

Home at last!

January 22, 2009

Yahoo we got to come home this afternoon!  The doctor said that he is sounding a lot better and because we have the nebulizer at home we can treat him here as needed!  She also put him on an inhaler to try to prevent him from getting this again.  He has been sick three times in a row and each time it as gotten worse.  She said if he gets it again it will be even worse.  We are going to do our best to keep him healthy through the rest of this RSV season.  We just need to watch him carefully and hope that he doesn’t get a secondary infection (like pneumonia).  Sierra had a cold (which was most likely the RSV) and hers did turn into pneumonia a couple weeks ago.

Oh it is nice to be home and it will be wonderful to sleep in my own bed after being gone a whole week!  Now I have to get back to my normal life 🙂  Hummmmmmmmmmmmm  I wonder what we should have for dinner tonight?  I guess there are some perks to being in the hospital and not having to worry about these things!  Of course I would much rather be home with all my children together!
